Start each day with a plan of action. It doesn't have to be a detailed strategy; a simple to-do list will work just fine. The purpose is to enter the office with an general idea of what you'd like to accomplish that day, which will allow you to skip the morning routine of settling in and wasting precious time.AVOID THE TRAPSAvoid the common traps of distraction. Checking personal email, stopping by a co-worker's cubicle or office, paging through junk mail...these are just a few of the traps that can silently steal away hours of your workday. What are your personal traps of distraction? Once discovered, make it a point to avoid them whenever possible.CLOSE THE DOORClose your office door. As simple as it sounds, closing the door of your office or workspace can add hours back to your workday each week. From your eye catching every movement outside your office to friends stopping by for a chat, closing your door will create a space of silence, focus, and productivity.USE TIME LIMITSEver find yourself pulled back to the same problem, again and again, beating your head against the wall as you struggle to find a solution? You can easily lose three, four, even five hours running in circles with nothing to show for it. When you encounter such a problem, set a time limit. If, after thirty minutes, you're right where you started, move on and give it another try tomorrow.
